Our family became a licensed foster family in 2016 and have provided emergency shelter care to many children through the years. Through our direct experience, we learned that children entering the foster system do not have the essentials they need at the critical moment when they are placed with an emergency shelter family.  We created New Beginnings Bags as a way to support the foster family and help children feel more comfortable and supported.  

Sierra Kitching & Lucia Kitching

Sierra and Lucia are twin sisters living in San Carlos CA.  They are juniors in high school and have volunteered with many different organizations helping children and families in the community most of their lives.  After becoming foster sisters to different children over the years they decided to look at ways to help with the difficult transition to a foster family.  They hope that a simple backpack with a welcome note makes a child feel loved and supported in their new even if temporary community.
